Joie de Vivre publishes essays on
the faith, worship, life, and artistic tradition of the Catholic Church;
the visual, literary, and musical arts in general;
the philosophy and theology of culture and aesthetics;
the history, culture, and traditions of South Louisiana;
and, of course, the intersection of Catholicism and South Louisiana.
There is no single ideal Joie de Vivre essay. Rather, there are ideal Joie de Vivre essays. While we are happy and eager to publish articles that are only concerned with the Catholic faith, the history and culture of South Louisiana, or the arts and culture in general, we earnestly desire to publish essays that explicitly reflect upon the intersection of the Catholic faith and art & South Louisiana culture.
Furthermore, while we hope that native South Louisianans will be frequent contributors to Joie de Vivre, we invite all people of good will to submit essay manuscripts or proposals for consideration. While we hope that Joie de Vivre will be of interest to many people beyond our region, we hope that this journal becomes a centerpiece of conversation, education, and contemplation for the people of South Louisiana. As a result, we especially hope that South Louisianans will contribute to our ongoing discussion about the most important things in life.
